"All the judges gave great feedback, honest. They were fully engaged and were completely dedicated to the cause. They took their time with everyone. Their approach was absolutely mentorship based and individualized for each performer. There was no bias. It could be easy for judges to assume a power position, but this did not happen at all. The judges really cared about all the performers and took everyone's goals and situations seriously and respectfully. They seemed to really understand the vulnerability and personal reach each performer gave. I myself felt safe, supported, and respected by all the judges even before I performed. One of the reasons why I decided to go on is because I saw the way the judges were treating all the performers who came before me. It made me feel safe and allowed me to let my guard down and to let everyone see me. I actually wasn't nervous when I performed, in fact I was incredibly thankful. Maybe the word Judges is the wrong word here. Perhaps the word Mentors is really more of what they are."

"I'm not sure how the Flow Down could be any better, really. I never expected to perform the way I did. I thought the Flow Down was more for confident hoopers to show their skills and to be professionally critiqued. And maybe for some, it is. But once I was there and saw how supportive the judges were, I realized that the Flow Down was there to mentor me in whatever way it could. So I guess I thought the Flow Down might have been competitive, but once I was their, I saw how it was truly a mentorship."
